Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The publication ethics of the journal "Geography and Tourism" comply with leading international standards and best practices in scholarly publishing, including the EASE Guidelines, the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing, the Publishing Ethics Resource Kit for Editors, COPE Guidelines, ICMJE recommendations, as well as the criteria and guidelines of DOAJ, Web of Science, and Scopus.

Publication and Sharing of Open Data
The journal encourages the publication and sharing of open data in accordance with the Panton Principles and FAIR Data Principles. Data may be published in various ways, such as through deposition in data repositories linked to the article or as supplementary datasets/files accompanying the article.
Datasets should be deposited in reliable repositories, and the associated identifier (URL or DOI) must be included in the article's data resources section. References to datasets should also be included in the reference list (with DOI, if available). If no specialized repository is available, authors should use general repositories such as Zenodo or similar platforms.
General Submission, Review, and Editorial Processes
All editorial processes (submission, peer review, editing, etc.) are managed via the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform developed by the Public Knowledge Project.
All participants in the editorial process receive automated email notifications through OJS. Detailed procedures for submission, review, editing, and corrections are described in the sections "Submission" and "Peer Review Process" on the journal's website.
Neither Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv nor the Editorial Board is responsible for the proper functioning of the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform (see "Disclaimer" for details).
Responsibilities of Authors
- Authors agree that their articles will be published under an open-access license: Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0).
- Authors must ensure that their manuscript is original, has not been published before, and is not under consideration elsewhere.
- Manuscripts must be written in clear academic English or Ukrainian and formatted according to the Author Guidelines.
- All listed authors must have made a significant contribution and agreed on authorship order and contributions.
- Authors must properly cite all sources used.
- Authors must actively participate in the peer review process and respond to reviewers' comments in a timely manner.
- Authors must notify the Editorial Board of any errors identified during or after publication (see "Post-publication Discussion and Corrections").
- Authors must disclose all sources of research funding and other forms of support (e.g., language editing funding).
- Authors must declare any conflicts of interest. The corresponding author submits this declaration on behalf of all co-authors.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers evaluate manuscripts to support timely editorial decisions and must disclose any conflicts of interest.
- Reviewers are expected to focus on scientific quality rather than detailed structural or language editing, while noting if editing is required.
- Reviewers assess scientific validity, clarity, relevance, and writing quality in accordance with reviewer guidelines.
- In cases of conflicting reviews, editors may make a decision or consult additional experts.
- Reviewers may be asked to reassess revised manuscripts during a second review round.
- Reviews must be constructive, polite, and evidence-based.
- Reviewers must not review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.
- All peer review is conducted confidentially.
- Manuscripts and related materials must not be shared with third parties.
- Reviewers must not use unpublished ideas or data from manuscripts.
- Reviewers should alert editors to any significant similarity with other published works.
Responsibilities of Editors
- Editors are responsible for the scientific quality of published articles and make decisions based on significance, originality, clarity, and relevance.
- Language editors ensure structural and stylistic quality.
- Editors must ensure compliance with ethical standards and prevent conflicts of interest.
- Editors must preserve reviewer anonymity unless disclosure is agreed upon.
Privacy and Confidentiality Statement
- Personal data (names, email addresses) are used solely for editorial purposes and are not shared with third parties.
- Submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential intellectual property.
- Editors and reviewers must not disclose manuscript content, review status, or reviewer comments.
- Double-blind peer review ensures reviewer anonymity.
- Editorial staff must refrain from public discussion of editorial processes.
- The journal does not retain rejected manuscripts. Reviewer reports cannot be published without consent.
Policy on Funding Sources
- Authors must clearly disclose all sources of research and publication funding. The corresponding author provides funding information during submission via OJS.
- Additional support (e.g., translation or editing funding) must be acknowledged in the manuscript.
Neutrality Regarding Geopolitical Disputes
- The journal maintains neutrality regarding political disputes. Editorial decisions are not influenced by nationality, affiliation, or personal characteristics of authors.
- Authors should avoid politicization, provocative statements, or disputed territorial representations.
- The journal reserves the right to label disputed content, publish editorial comments, or reject/retract articles if necessary.
- The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject manuscripts without review if:
- authors are affiliated with institutions located in an aggressor state or state sponsor of terrorism;
- the research is funded by such entities;
- the manuscript promotes unlawful actions, human rights violations, terrorism, or ideological propaganda;
- the research relies on results from such sources without proper justification of their originality and scientific value;
- the study disproportionately reflects biased or politically motivated interpretations of Ukrainian statehood, history, language, or identity.
Gender Policy
- The journal encourages the use of gender-neutral language (e.g., "they" instead of "he/she").
- Editorial decisions and reviewer selection are made without discrimination based on gender, age, or other personal characteristics.
